Many plants and animals that exist in nature have physiologically active substances that have a harmful effect on humans. Food poisoning are reported every year in Japan. People misidentify toxic varieties as edible varieties due to the lack of information on correct identification.  For the purpose of preventing health hazards due to natural poisons, database on toxic plants and mushrooms was built on our Web site. The database includes statistical data of food poisoning caused by toxic plants and mushrooms between 2000 and 2018, DNA-based identification methods for poisonous plants and mushrooms based upon specific loci (eg, ITS, RPB2, matK), sequence data links, and analytical methods.  These data and information can help you understand the risk of natural toxins in toxic mushrooms and plants and identify toxic mushrooms plants and plants correctly.
